REBUILD PROCESS INFORMATION
Every turbocharger is carefully disassembled, all components cleaned and inspected. Consumable parts are discarded (journal bearings, turbine seal rings, o-ring seals, etc.). Housings and wheels are checked for wear and cracks. Each bearing housing is checked to be within factory tolerances. If not, it is honed to as necessary for repair. Most components are media blasted by hand to remove any rust, dirt, and scaling. Then the turbocharger is reassembled using new parts (bearings, thrust bearings, seals, o-rings, thrust parts, etc.). All turbochargers reassembled using stainless steel hardware, where applicable. All turbochargers rebalanced. All turbochargers are balanced better than factory specification to less than 0.5g/cm2.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Turbocharger warranty only applies to stock OEM rebuilds. Warranty valid only when product installation performed by an ASE certified mechanic, with experience in turbocharger system operation, installation, and diagnosis. All warranty claims must be accompanied by original purchase receipt or invoice, along with mechanic’s identification, and a valid color copy of ASE certificates. Pavel’s Racing Engines Inc(“PRE”) invoice must be accompanied by an invoice proof of new oil feed line purchase unless purchased from PRE together with the turbo service. Warranty period is 12 months from the date of purchase. All warranty claims are evaluated on an individual basis and require the defective turbocharger to be returned for comprehensive failure analysis. After failure analysis is performed and manufacturing flaw detected, PRE will evaluate the claim and exchange the turbocharger, repair the product, or issue a refund, at our discretion. Warranty claims will not be honored without ASE certificate accompanying the turbo during the return and inspection will not start until all proper documentation is received.

Warranty will be considered void if the turbocharger is modified from its original form at the time of shipping. The following are considered warranty-voiding modifications:

  • Wastegate actuator shimming, disabling, or modifications (i.e. crushing of the wastegate actuator diaphragm)
  • Wastegate valve disabling (plugs or welding of the waste gate valve)
  • Compressor or turbine housing clocking to accommodate different application than originally intended and sold for
  • Failure to abide by the turbocharger installation instructions
  • Welding of fitting, piping, or flanges to the turbocharger compressor or turbine housings
  • Use of boost pressure altering devices (i.e. manual and/or electronic boost controllers)
  • Operating turbocharger at higher turbo pressure levels than originally designed for by the manufacturer of the turbocharger and/or vehicle
  • Any turbocharger found to be overheated due to lack, or total absence, or water cooling of the bearing housing. This only applies to water-cooled AND oil lubricated turbochargers. Any turbocharger means to be used with water cooling should be used as such. If such methods are not available please revise your turbocharger choice.
  • Use of anti-lag or launch control systems or any kind. This causes excessive heating of the turbine components beyond manufacturers design criteria.

Any turbocharger that is upgraded either by PRE or a third party is considered a performance and/or racing application, thus excluded from the PRE warranty.
